South African maize imports for the week ending Aug 12^th came in at 42,721t, bringing total progressive maize imports for the current marketing year to 471,974t and vs the same time last year of 186,645t.  White maize imported from Mexico made up 2,894t whilst yellow maize from Argentina, imported for the first time in 5 weeks, made up 39,827t.  Below is a graph portraying the cumulative yellow maize imports for the current marketing year vs the previous 5yr’s and vs SAGIS estimation of yellow imports.
