South Africa increased its maize imports by 32,096t week over week, this time all white maize from Mexico, to bring the cumulative maize imports for the current marketing year to just shy of 400,000t as shown in the graph below.  Grain imports are just falling short of SAGIS forecasts who expects 1mil t of white maize to be imported for the current marketing year – equating to 230,769t for the past 12 weeks vs actual white maize imports over this period of only 124,559t.  SAGIS yellow maize import forecast stand at 2.3mil t – equating to 530,769t and vs the actual yellow maize imports of only 275,042t over the same period
