South Africa imported 140,328t of corn for the week ending August 26^th.  White maize made up 44,976t imported from Mexico whilst yellow maize made up 95,352t imported from Argentina and Brazil.  Cumulative maize imports increased for the recent week but still runs below the linear projection made by the National Agricultural Marketing Council’s as shown in the graph below.  The council adjusted its corn import forecast for the current marketing year from 3.2mil t to 3mil t with no change to the expected 1mil t for white maize whilst yellow maize imports are expected to decline to 2mil t from 2.2mil t
