The October CEC report showed producers intentions to plant South African maize in the 2016/17 marketing year up 26.5% from the previous season at 2.463mil ha vs last year’s 1.94mil ha and vs 2015 season of 2.652mil ha. Assuming the same yield as we’ve seen in 2015 of 3.75t/ha would could be left with maize production of 9.23mil t hypothetically for the 2016/17 year.
