South African maize imports for the week ending April 1st came in at 110,762t all yellow maize which brings the cumulative progressiveExport maize imports for the current marketing year, starting May 2015, to 1.65mil t and vs the same time last year of 21,000t.  Suppliers of maize were Argentina selling 79% of total imports whilst the Ukraine, for the first time this marketing year, provided the rest.  Harbours used for imports were Port Elizabeth receiving 21%, Cape Town receiving 15.2%, Durban receiving 50.4% and Richards Bay, making a debut appearance this marketing year, receiving 13.4% of total weekly imports .  Maize exports for the same week ending came in at 11,054t, 81% yellow maize and 19% white maize.
