South African maize imports for the week ending April 1^st came in at 110,762t all yellow maize which brings the cumulative progressive maize imports for the current marketing year, starting May 2015, to 1.65mil t and vs the same time last year of 21,000t.  Suppliers of maize were Argentina selling 79% of total imports whilst the Ukraine, for the first time this marketing year, provided the rest.  Harbours used for imports were Port Elizabeth receiving 21%, Cape Town receiving 15.2%, Durban receiving 50.4% and Richards Bay, making a debut appearance this marketing year, receiving 13.4% of total weekly imports .  Maize exports for the same week ending came in at 11,054t, 81% yellow maize and 19% white maize.
