Adding on to yesterday’s graph, which showed the hectares of maize planted for South Africa for the current year and the past 22 years as shown by the red line in the graph below, I’ve also added the average maize yield (t/Ha) over the same period as shown by the blue column bars.  Currently the average yield is estimated at 3.728t/Ha vs the previous two years average yield of 3.747t/Ha and the 2014 record year at 5.3t/Ha.
