South Africa imported a weekly record amount of maize in the current marketing year of 150,545t  for the week ending Feb 26^th  .  All imports were for yellow maize sourced from Argentina and Paraguay.  Below is a chart portraying the cumulative maize imports for the current marketing year ending April 2016.  If maize imports increase by its 10 week average, for the next 8 weeks to the end of the marketing year, we could see projected cumulative maize imported total nearly 1.7mil t as shown in the graph below.
